Hosting explained...

To put a website "on the internet" you need to rent a domain name and some hosting.

A domain name is the web address that people type into their web browser to get to your site. For example, "jamesreckitt.co.uk" is a domain name.

Web hosting is space on a remote computer where your site is stored so that people can access it from their computers. The internet is made up of millions of "servers" (a type of computer) where people's websites are stored.

Don't understand?

Don't worry! Our experienced technicians will guide you through the registration and payment process free of charge when it's time to put your site online, simply so that you don't have to worry about it.

A design is only half of a website! The second, and equally crucial, part is getting the site hosted, or put on the internet. There are thousands of hosts out there and it can often be a challenge to find a reliable one - some sites hosted for free take a long time to load which can be offputting for visitors. This is why we recommend acclaimed UK host 1and1. We will go through the registration process with you so you can pay the host direct - we don't take a cut for hosting charges!

As well as offering a quality hosting service, 1and1 can also supply customers with detailed statistics about their site for no extra charge. Such statistics could include things like the amount of views your site has received per day, as is shown in the graphic above. Feel free to get in touch for more information.

If you would like to check out 1and1's site yourself, you can do so here.
